Meeting Minutes: Dec 15, 2015

DRWA Meeting minutes – Dec 15, 2015. 7 pm.

CRWC office, Greenfield, MA

Present: Brian (presiding), Robert May, Dave Boles, Jim Perry, Mike Cole

I. Chat with Andy Fisk.

Andy’s overall message was that CRWC would like to support trib orgs as collaborator and partner in shared mission of protecting rivers. He detailed several ways that CRWC could help DRWA with lagging energy and administrative support.

1. Fiscal Sponsor – best for short term situations where a mission based group uses the 501c3 of another permanent group. E.g. – CRWC did this for a group of Hadley, MA citizens who opposed a Walmart expansion.

2. CRWC will likely be starting “back office support” for SE Vermont Watershed Assn. This will likely entail membership database maintenance and sending physical mailers for memberships that are expiring – something that has lapsed since Joah left.

3. DRWA could absolve and become a chapter or affiliate of CRWC. DRWA could continue to exist with website, unique members, unique initiatives, but would not maintain a formal board (similar to Black River Action Team, Kelly Stetner).

II. Membership renewals.

Jim raised the issue that he has not received a membership renewal letter. Brian mentioned that Laura is working on this, but has not made much progress.

Adjourned 8:30.
